Chances are, you have a strong safety program. Injuries are rare, but when they do happen, they quickly become a headache. Your employee tells you one thing, tells the doctor another, and if your provider is not detailed and organized, you have a delicate situation on your hands.
Perhaps the initial visit goes smoothly, but you find that your worker is spending weeks to months in physical therapy, racking up expensive bills, and forcing you to be understaffed.
Maybe you notice that an alarming percentage of your minor injuries are becoming OSHA recordable because your provider is ordering prescription medications and durable medical equipment, when an ACE bandage and Advil would be just as effective.
On top of this, you are dealing with a million other things. You trust the doctors; after all, they're the experts, right? Meanwhile, they're costing you time and money.
When you do get the time to call your provider, it's a monumental task trying to get them on the phone.
This is why it is important to work with a provider who truly cares about you and your employees.
Ironbound Medical Services (IMS) is staffed with two board certified physicians (MDs) who each have over 30 years of workers’ compensation experience. With our extensive experience, we will appropriately and promptly diagnose and treat your injured employee while avoiding OSHA reportability and lost work time whenever possible.
We encourage you to call in and verbally report any information you feel is important for us to know regarding any suspicious circumstances regarding an injury, preferably before we see your employee. Our detailed paperwork ensures that our staff and your worker provide a thorough description of the injury, preventing a "He said, she said" situation.
As detailed in our occupational health page, unlike many of our competitors who follow the same expensive and time-consuming playbook for each injury, our physicians take a more nuanced approach.
Treatment is stepwise, and gets more aggressive with each visit if the employee is not improving as expected. Over-the-counter medications and home exercises are utilized to keep your expenses down.
Obviously, if we feel therapy is needed, we will order it. Years of experience and research demonstrate that each patient is different and while some patients require physical therapy, many do not. An MRI will be done if indicated by the physical exam or if improvement plateaus.
Again, our goal is to quickly and accurately diagnose your employee and then treat them appropriately so they can continue working or return to full duty as soon as possible, at the lowest cost possible to you.
