Ironbound Medical Services (IMS) opened its doors at 221 Chestnut Street in the Ironbound section of Newark, NJ on May 12, 2008. It is run by Robert Mustillo, MD. Dr. Mustillo has been a practicing physician since 1990 and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He is also a certified Medical Review Officer (MRO), a certified Department of Transportation (DOT) physician, a certified Aviation Medical Examiner (AME), and a designated Civil Surgeon.
Dr. Mustillo’s main interest and focus is in Occupational Medicine. He has been performing Occupational Medicine physicals and treating Workers’ Compensation injuries since 1990 and has extensive experience treating all different types of work injuries, from sprains and strains to complex lacerations, foreign body removals to minor fractures, draining abscesses to treating eye injuries and concussions, and more. He also performs joint aspirations, joint injections, and exercise stress tests.
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Mustillo is likely spending time with his family, playing a musical instrument, doing yard work, or watching an action movie.
Dr. Mustillo’s mission at Ironbound Medical Services is to provide thorough employment exams of all kinds and exceptional rapid diagnosis and treatment of work injuries. Employers can rest assured knowing that workers referred for pre-employment or periodic physicals will receive a comprehensive medical history review and a complete physical. Any problem identified will be discussed with your worker and, if serious, will require a visit to their private physician for further evaluation. We will do everything we can to expedite getting their problem addressed. Often this requires communication with an employee’s private physician if a problem is found on physical exam. If it’s a work injury it may require a referral to a specialist, especially if surgery is required. Whatever the problem is, we know you need your employee working.
To achieve our mission, Ironbound Medical Services hires helpful and capable employees who consistently go above and beyond for your workers. We know that workers are often nervous for various reasons coming to the “company doctor” for a physical or for injury treatment.
Our staff does its best to keep things light and does whatever they can to help your workers obtain the paperwork they need from their physicians or to get them the referral to the specialist the doctor has ordered. We are confident that your employees (and you) will have a positive experience with our staff. The majority of the staff has been working here several years, so they are very experienced in the world of Occupational Medicine.
